Outdoor Provisions
At Greenfield School and Campws Maes Glas, we recognise the importance of outdoor education in enhancing the learning experiences of our students. Our diverse outdoor provisions are designed to support personal development, teamwork, and a deep connection with nature, catering specifically to the needs of our students. This section highlights the various opportunities available:
Duke of Edinburgh Awards
Our Duke of Edinburgh Awards program provides students with the chance to develop essential life skills through physical activities, skill-building, and community service. This program is tailored to accommodate the unique needs of our students, ensuring they gain confidence, resilience, and a sense of achievement.
Forest School
The Forest School initiative offers immersive, hands-on learning experiences in natural environments. Activities such as bushcraft, wildlife observation, and outdoor games are adapted to support the diverse learning styles of our students, fostering creativity, confidence, and environmental stewardship.
Greenfield Cycling Club
The Greenfield Cycling Club encourages students to explore the outdoors on bicycles. With guided rides, safety training, and maintenance workshops, the club promotes physical fitness, independence, and a love for cycling, while ensuring accessibility for all students.
Outdoor Extended Learning Areas
Our Outdoor Extended Learning Areas are designed to enrich the educational experience through various focuses:
- Ecology and Conservation: Students participate in projects that promote biodiversity and environmental conservation, tailored to their learning needs.
- Adventure and Exploration: Activities such as orienteering, hiking, and camping are adapted to encourage adventure and self-discovery in a supportive environment.
- Creative Arts: Outdoor spaces inspire artistic expression through nature-inspired art, photography, and creative writing, with accommodations for different abilities.
- Wellbeing and Mindfulness: Dedicated areas for yoga, meditation, and reflective practices support mental health and wellbeing, with activities designed to be inclusive and accessible.
These provisions are integral to our commitment to holistic education, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive both academically and personally through meaningful outdoor experiences.
