Pyramid Classroom

Pyramid Classroom

Here at Greenfield we have committed to developing four of our classrooms, throughout the Key Stages to become Pyramid Certified Classrooms.

“The Pyramid Approach to Education was designed by Andy Bondy, Ph.D. and Beth Sulzer-Azaroff, Ph.D. It is a model based upon broad spectrum Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). As such, all components are research-based and imperative for building an effective educational environment. These components include: functional activities, reinforcement systems, functional communication, identification and replacement of contextually inappropriate behaviours, generalization, lesson formats, teaching strategies, error correction and data collection/analysis”.

Pyramid consultants are working closely with Greenfield staff regarding the importance of each component of the Pyramid and how to develop and implement the strategies within their classrooms.

Pyramid Educational Consultants have offer a wide range of services and products for educators and parents of children and adults with autism and related disabilities.  They are also the exclusive source of training and consultation for the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and the Pyramid Approach to Education.

They are supporting us to ensure that your children are given the best possible learning opportunities.  This is achieved in two ways: one is by providing us with high quality training events which focus on communication; the other by working with some of our staff directly in their teaching environments, to coach them with planning and teaching functional communication skills.

Louise and Hannah, the Pyramid Consultants, have been working with us since September.  They visit school once a month to provide the direct support in classrooms to upskill our staff and they have been impressed with the work that is taking place.  They state that already, “Significant changes have been made.”

Our staff are learning and developing their skill set which can only have a positive impact on the progress and learning for our pupils.
