School Achievements
Investors In People - Awarded July 19, 2024
We are incredibly proud that we have just been awarded the Platinum Investors in People Award. Very few organisations get awarded Platinum so this is a great achievement for our school. It also recognises our dedication to invest into our staff teams in terms of training and wellbeing support. At a time when we are losing staff within the education sector both in Wales and nationally, it is more important than ever to make sure that staff feel valued. At Greenfield, through a compassionate leadership approach, we have worked hard to create a culture of trust, motivation and inspiration for all people at the school.
Siarter Iaith Cymraeg Campus
The Cymraeg Campus Language Charter provides a clear and practical framework to help schools encourage and increase the use of the Welsh language across all areas of school life. Its core aim is to foster a strong Welsh ethos throughout the school, offering a wide range of engaging and enriching activities that inspire pupils to enjoy learning and speaking Welsh every day.
Investors In People - Awarded February 22, 2021
Greenfield School first gained the prodigious Investors in People award in April 2002. This award has identified that the management of the school has built close and productive relationships with all who are employed within the organisation.
Good practice was identified in employee engagement, support and guidance across all areas of the Investors in People framework, from strengthening leadership to developing managers, building dialogue and creating a culture of openness and trust. Since the initial award ongoing independent reviews have shown that the good practice continues to develop.
JUNE 2021
We have some amazing news to share! We have recently been assessed by Investors in People and we are thrilled to let you know that we have achieved the ‘We invest in people’ GOLD accreditation!
Only 17% of organisations achieve gold.
We are delighted to hear that our staff;
- Appreciate the priority given to wellbeing and work life balance
- Have felt totally supported through the Covid-19 pandemic
- Are proud to work for Greenfield School
The report stated;
Since achieving Gold level accreditation in 2018 you have experienced a challenging time and have done extremely well to not only survive but continue to provide outstanding services to your children and the community. During this period you have had to make some difficult decisions regarding how you could best utilise your resources and balance your priorities. With this in mind you deserve congratulations for maintaining your Gold accreditation and establishing a solid platform to make even more improvements to meet your challenges in the coming years.
I would like to congratulate all Greenfield staff on this great achievement on behalf of the Senior Leadership Team and the School Governing Body,
Rhiannon Stephens Davies

ICT Mark Accredited - Awarded December 8, 2014
BECTA is the government agency leading the national drive to ensure the effective and innovative use of information and communications technology throughout learning.
The BECTA ICT Mark is an externally assessed, national quality mark against which schools can measure whether they have reached a recognised standard of maturity in their use of technology.
The BECTA SRF – Self-Review Framework offers the school a route for assessing and improving our school’s use of ICT. By benchmarking against best practice, it will enable Greenfield school to create an action plan for further development.
This is a fantastic achievement for us and the report from the assessors was a real pleasure to read.
We are already planning the next stage in our ICT development, which will include further work on e-safety and also address the issues around:
- E-learning
- HWB+ Site
- Further development of our school website
British Council International School Award - Awarded January 6, 2014
This shows our commitment to Global Citizenship and cultural diversity by linking with different schools and cultures as part of our working practice. Our pupils learn that they are linked to and are affected by the lives and decisions of others across the world. They have the right to understand and develop themselves as global citizens.
Many opportunities have been provided to study other cultures. The school has had strong links with schools in Botswana and Holland, Lithuania, Poland, France, Crete and the Czech Republic. Many subject areas are used to deliver this theme, including Creative Arts. These influences can be seen throughout the school.
Eco Schools - Awarded June 20, 2007
Eco Schools is a programme that has been running within our school for several years. It is designed to implement sustainable development, encouraging all pupils to take an active role in how to develop our local environment. The Green Flag status was awarded in the summer of 2009.
Within Greenfield, we have concentrated our efforts on several areas, including Litter, Healthy Living, Transport and Global Citizenship.
Our school seeks to educate all our pupils in the merits of sustainability.
Duke Of Edinburgh - Awarded April 19, 2007
The Duke of Edinburgh Award has been running at Greenfield School since 2007 and in recent years, has become a licenced centre to run the scheme. The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is offered to all learners in their fourteenth year and above and is entirely inclusive. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of activities for anyone aged 14 – 24. There are three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. The award has allowed learners the opportunity to experience new activities and to develop their confidence, knowledge and practical skills. The required sections include volunteering, physical, skills and an expedition. The expedition involves planning, training for and completing an adventurous journey, including overnight camping. Those learners who do not complete the expedition section, are able to celebrate and be certificated for the skills sections they have completed. The expeditions have taken place in the lowland Brecon Beacons, Gower and Pembrokeshire.
The staff who lead expeditions must have achieved the Lowland Leader qualification, accredited by Mountain Training.
In 2024, we were delighted to announce that Regan Jones became Greenfield’s first Gold Award holder.
